Talking and thinking robots are things of the future right? Not exactly…a robot named Saya developed by Hiroshi Kobayashi was given a job as a receptionist at Tokyo University of Science. Saya was tested earlier in a Japanese classroom full of fifth and sixth graders and the students were quite delighted! However, Saya couldn't do more than roll call and give orders such as "Be Quiet!"
Hmmm…this is really interesting. The thoughts of having robots live among us would be really exciting! I wonder though if students didn't listen to her, what she would have done…shoot a tranquilizer dart at them to sedate them? Scary thought. Heck there might even be a site called RobotHunt where you can customize your very own robot.
