We all know that figure skater Johnny Weir is pretty much as flamboyant as they come, and we love him for it. But apparently the Stars On Ice tour don't because they didn't invite him to participate in their show claiming he is not "family friendly".
In other words, his gayness is too much for them to handle. I've never seen him do anything outright vulgar so I chalk this one up to homophobia. I mean if he was getting fucked while skating I'd get it… but that's not the case. What do you guys think of the decision?

I think it’s a crock of shit that they won’t let him perform because of that. Personally, hey, I’m glad he lets his flag fly and proudly is who he is.
No, I kind of get it. While he is a great performer, when I watched him at the Olympics a lot of what I noticed is his genderfuck mentality, and that’s kind of an intricate conversation to have with an 8 year old.
Bullsh*t!!!
He is an artist and this is his interpretation of the sport…he has spectacular moves and like I’ve said before, the flambouyancy (spell) is part of it!
AND TO TODD! Don’t give these homophobic bastard “any” excuses! If homosexuality wasn’t looked down on by the moral majority (minority), you wouldn’t have to explain things like this to an 8 year old, he is NOT sexual on the ice…
In centuries past females were not allowed to act or be part of stage productions and men played all the female parts…so are we moving forward or backward.
It is this man’s art and his style, I’d like to know where to write to protest this!
If they had just not included him it would be one thing, but to make the statement that he isn’t family friendly, is totally another…
So if he came out wearing fatigues and a helmet and pretended shooting people would that be butch enough and acceptable??? I’d hate to have to explain that to an 8 year old!
Sorry, this just “really” pisses me off and the fact that it doesn’t piss off everyone gay or straight, just makes it worse.
Just another kick in the nuts for us gays.
I was going to see the show but not now no way.
I already know a few people who are refusing to tune in to it… And they are not gay… But with his accomplishments there is no reason why he SHOULDN’T be included. It could be a lot worse than what he does. and I don’t see it that much of an issue. not like he is wearing a cocksock with full body glitter…
America is getting uppity tight like a anti-gay hypocrisy can get. No wonder other countries look down us in the worse of ways… We maybe a World power but we are 3rd-world mentality when it comes to morals and religion association.
i will be the first to play devil’s advocate when it comes to pulling the “homophobia card.” i could have argued that perhaps behind the scenes there are things we do not know about. perhaps he is a complete diva bitch that does not get along well with others. however, the disclaimer of not being “family friendly” is just about as blatantly homophobic as it can get which is ironic since it is ice skating! stereotypes be damned that is about as gay as it gets. hopefully some gay group somewhere is taking aim because this one is below the belt.
oh and to the guy who was saying “a weird thing to explain to your children” um, no it is not. homosexuality and flamboyant ice skaters existed long before any 8 year olds did. if parents are so concerned about explaining the real world to their children, they should not have them period. i am so sick and tired of that dead horse argument that is so popular in america. “but the children.” really? this world is not perfect so quit bringing them into this world if you are so concerned about explaining it to them.
i would boycott Stars on Ice!!!
well it doesn’t matter who came first josh, eight year olds or flaming homosexuals, but the question is raising your children to buy into the gender divide, or to let them see examples that its not always just black and white. What kid hasn’t messed around with gender roles even before that age? it needn’t be about sexuality, its about the presentation of self. if the kid is sheltered from any sort of gender variance before they reach a certain age, you can bet that they will think it strange when they see people breaking the rules. this isn’t homophobia, its femmephobia and gender bias.
He knew this would happen. I dont necessarily agree with the promoters but its their right…nobody has a right to get a paycheck if those paying the salary dont want to hire…same as a sportsteam hiring th best coach not the best black coach. Johnny is who he is and he’s a cutie and a nice guy. He wont cry homophobia and neither should you.
