On this week's MANHUNT Daily 2009 Song of Summer charts, former Destiny's Child member Kelly Rowland snatched the top spot from Britney Spears and showed us that she's more than just Beyonce's back-up dancer. Could she face some competition if Queen B invades next week's charts? We're not sayin'. We're just sayin'.
Now that we're saying goodbye to The Pet Shop Boys, Cobra Starship and La Roux, we chose two worthy replacements based on your suggestions. A wild card was thrown in just to keep things interesting
Just joining us? Perhaps we should explain the rules. This is the true story of ten songs picked to live on a song of summer charts, to be voted upon and find out what happens when other songs stop being polite and start getting real. In other words, we present ten songs, you place your votes and seven of the tunes move on the next week.
So what happens to the remaining three spots? That's up to you! Each week, we take suggestions from the comments and decide whether they're appropriate for licking phallic ice pops in front of horny truckers. Get ready to get all sticky and sweaty, because we still have a long way to go.
– Dewitt
To see this week's charts and vote, follow the JUMP:
- David Guetta f/ Kelly Rowland – When Love Takes Over (LW – 4): We may or may not have had a tie for the number one spot. We may or may not be a little biased. And in case you're wondering, we're definitely trying to piss off some crazy Britney fans.
- Britney Spears – Radar (LW – 1): Oh, quit your crying and start taking some action. If Brit has enough of a lead next week, she can get right back to the top (where you think she belongs).
- Lady Gaga – LoveGame (LW – 3): Speaking of tops, the Gaga's big donkey disco stick doesn't slip an inch. That would probably make for some really awkward sex, eh? With all the games guys play on MANHUNT, it's no wonder this song is doing so well.
- Lady Gaga – Paparazzi (LW – 10): For all your talk about defying stereotypes, you guys have pretty predictable taste in music. I don't mean to be harsh, but two Lady Gaga songs back-to-back… really? I guess our attempt to dilute her power failed miserably.
- Mariah Carey – Obsessed (LW – 5): Poor Mimi got shut out of the top ten on the Billboard charts by Hannah Montana. The lambs aren't just slacking on our charts, but they're slacking in real life. Maybe Mariah will have a better follow up single?
- Michael Jackson – Thriller (LW – 2): Youch! The King of Pop falls four spots this week. Will the leak of some unreleased material help him stay on the charts?
- Shakira – She Wolf (LW – 8): A-woo! The English language version of Shakira's single has leaked, and it's packed with weird references to lycanthropy and coffee pots. This tune is perfect for showing off your animalistic side on the dance floor.
- Yeah Yeah Yeahs – Heads Will Roll (DEBUT): This is the third song on the charts that's somehow related to werewolves. We blame the upcoming Twilight film.
- Paradiso Girls f/ Eve & Lil Jon – Patron Tequila (DEBUT): Who wants to get fucked up? Raise your hand and say, "I do, I do!" Or you could just vote for this song. Robin Antin probably has such a boner right now.
- Last Offence f/ Jay-Z – Back It On Up (DEBUT): Consider this our attempt to inject our charts with a little homosexuality, testosterone and hip-hop. Jay-Z couldn't make it work, but can this song that samples him survive some fierce competition?
everyone tries to screw britney. not a surprise that MH too 🙂
sorry but britney spears can suck donkey dick. she’s horrible and needs to go die somewhere in a gutter.
wtf, why you wanna piss off us britney fans? is this a ploy to get more hits on ur website? lol
Not to be a downer, but what is it with homos and bland, boring pop music?
Put Cobra Starship back on!!!!! Love that song!!
excuse me…but what happened to Pet Shop Boys Love , Etc. or Did You See Me Coming? This list seems to be the same old boring drivel (except for She Wolf) . America has become an unimaginative , unartistic group of lemmings when it comes to music…If we DO have to have Lady Gaga on a list of best Summer songs, then what about The Fame?
Glad MH listened to my suggestion and included She Wolf. If I am allow to add more to this list, check these two tracks by up and coming singers from two different parts of the world.
-Agnes Carlsson: “Release Me”. Already being played in some radio stations in America and also in some clubs. She was a few years ago Sweden’s version of American Idol.
-Livvi Franc: “Now I’m that bitch”. Great song in remixed version. She’s from Barbados like Rihanna and Shontelle and her debut album includes producers that have worked with Lily Allen, Leona Lewis and Kylie.
Hope to see them both on the list down the road.
it’s cool to see the Yeah Yeah Yeah’s on the ballot this week after i suggested it last week. too bad i know it wont make it next week.
