Kelly Rowland Uses Her Lifeline On This Week’s Song of Summer Charts

Songofsummer

We have mixed feelings about this week's Song of Summer charts. Just as we've been adjusting to Lady Gaga's omnipresence, you threw us a curve ball by voting David Guetta and Kelly Rowland to only the number six spot. As promised, we're saving the song from extinction, but we can't help but acknowledge that it's departure is imminent.

Looking on the bright side, we're absolutely thrilled (and extremely surprised) to see Little Boots smash into one of the top spots. Even so, there were so many good songs to save this week other than Kelly and David. Don't give us that dirty look for not saving Rudenko! You made the choices, and you'll just have to live with it.

If you're just joining us, we should probably fill you in on the rules. Each week, ten songs compete for the ultimate title of MANHUNT Daily's 2009 Song of Summer. Every reader is allowed to vote for up to three songs, and the five with the highest percentages move on to the following week. These five songs are then joined by a song we save and four songs inspired by your suggestions.

Which reminds me… if you don't see your favorite song on the chart, leave a comment recommending it. We'll sift through your proposed tunes and decide whether they're suited for sweaty summertime orgies. Speaking of which, I seem to have misplaced my orgy invitations.

To see this week's charts and vote, follow the JUMP:

  1. Shakira – She Wolf (LW – 1): Commenter Willact723 may not understand Shakira's gay appeal, but clearly he's in the minority. "She Wolf" spends a third week at the top of the charts. Can it claw its way into a fourth week of domination?
  2. Lady Gaga – LoveGame (LW – 2): While visiting New York recently, I almost broke into the subway dance from this video. I was this close to taking my pants off and then some old lady got on the train.
  3. Little Boots – Remedy (LW – 9): Victoria Hesketh may or may not be the next Lady Gaga, but she sure as hell stole the number three spot from her! Here's hoping you keep this one around for a while.
  4. Cascada – Evacuate the Dancefloor (LW – 4): This song has gone beyond guilty pleasure for me. Every time I hear it, I want to take my clothes off and dance on the bar. In fact, I'm fighting the urge to gyrate on my desk right now.
  5. Lady Gaga – Paparazzi (LW – 3): Believe it or not, Gaga is on the brink of extinction this week. Even so, there's absolutely no denying that she's the artist of the summer.
  6. David Guetta f/ Kelly Rowland – When Love Takes Over (LW – 5): This song has been there for you since the beginning. It practically carried you for nine months and gave birth to you. How are you going to forget about it like this?
  7. Miley Cyrus – Party in the U.S.A. (DEBUT): We love that the performance for this song included pole-dancing and trailer park hoes. She really is just being Miley.
  8. Jason DeRulo – Whatcha Say (DEBUT): Men haven't had much luck on this list, but Jason DeRulo's Imogen Heap rip-off hopes to change that. You know how I feel about this one, so I'll save my breath.
  9. Whitney Houston – I Didn't Know My Own Strength (Peter Rauhofer remix) (DEBUT): You know that the diva's comeback would be incomplete without a handful of dance remixes. We're still sad that "Million Dollar Bill" didn't catch on.
  10. Ameerah – The Sound of Missing You (DEBUT): Summer isn't just hot bodies and cocktails, you know? It also involves a little heartbreak, paired with songs allowing you to dance away the pain.

  1. If Kelly & David fall off the charts, which i hope they dont ive been loving this song since it first came out, you should put David Guetta back on the song is Gettin’ Over by David Guetta Feat. Chris Willis, FIERCE!

  2. Take away my gay card… I just don’t like Lady Gaga and Shakira. Sounds like the same over-produced music others are putting out there.

  3. I agree with Luke…I HATE that rip-off. Why can’t artists leave good songs alone??
I’m still sad Keri Hilson’s song departed us…

  4. I really don’t like Love Game, don’t like Lady Gaga really, her voice is good but the lyrics of her songs.. blechhh. Just not impressed with Remedy, sure it’s catchy but eh.. Love Whitney!

  5. I love Imogen Heap, but I am not feeling this sampling at all. It kinda hurts. COuldn’t bring myself halfway through the song.

  6. OK, here’s the trend I see, whenever you guys say a song is on the brink of extinction, it suddenly gets more votes. It keeps happening. Lady GaGa has done it more times than anyone, and look at Kelly and David. ALmost of the list and they’ve gotten the most votes this week now. Hmm?

  7. “Relator” – Pete Yorn & Scarlett Johanssen
    “Daylight” – Matt & Kim
    “I.D.G.A.F.” – Breathe Carolina

  8. If y’all hate GaGa so much, then why don’t you stop voting for her?
I’m still fixed with Mini Viva’s “Left My Heart In Tokyo”.
Also I don’t know why I find Miley’s song so appealing, maybe I’m getting sick. Nah, she’s just great.
Now, how many of you think this Chart will get stuck as it is. The top 5 positions have been the same for the last two weeks, the only song that changes will be the keeper, and we will just see the bottom 4 songs circle by.

  9. I know, why don’t you add a song from Kylie while she prepares for her first USA tour?

  10. Since you can vote for up to three songs, the percentages represent the percent of people that voted for that song, not the percent of votes on the final vote.
In theory if everyone voted for three, the percentages would sum up 300%, right now it’s 238.8% which means that about 20% of the voters voted for only 2 or 1 option instead of the 3 available.
