These are the heavenly words of Mother Monster, a woman known to you mere mortals as “Lady Gaga“. When I saw her deliver them on Twitter this past Sunday, I took to my computer machine to write a passionate, 5000-word letter to Manhunt Daily‘s Dewitt, inquiring whether I could guest blog when Mother’s new single “Applause” came out. He is, after all, a blogger. I do not trust his criticism, and neither should you.
He replied: “Okay, I guess.”
As a fan and scholar of all things Gaga, I have intimate knowledge that “Applause” is the greatest gay anthem of all time. On the surface level, it’s a song about putting your hands up and making them touch, but the meaning is so much deeper than that. This is iconic! I’m not sure I could even explain it to you. The true fans and music scholars will know what I’m talking about. The rest of you can “look it up” or listen to that awful new Shady Perry song, lol.

I was encouraged by the way she channelled Tallulah Bankhead in the opening vocals, but my interest stated fading fast the more obvious the vocorder became. To me, this sounds like a demo that was done for The Fame Monster — something that was recorded with computers that would eventually be replaced by live musicians. Gaga seems to have run out of musical ideas already — its one thing to quote your own music after a long and distinguished career (see the new Pet Shop Boys album), quite another to simply repeat themes found in your music from two years ago.
I believe this is one cd I will be skipping.
What is it with Lady Gaga and nudity? I don’t mind it, but … I have to say that, after soooo much of it, it has become a distraction from her music.
Well other people would complain that they got tired of her eccentric clothes…Guess she can,’t win!

Sucks she’s done
Amazing song!!! Totally different from anything she has ever done and totally different from anything on the radio. She changes it up all the time. This song is brilliant. People complain and hate on her no matter what she does. Kudos for her taking a risk and putting something fresh out there, unlike the Katy Perry Roar song which is just bubblegum pop which has been copied.
I like the song, but it’s nothing special.
Damn. Pretentious as hell. She loves to tell everyone how “artistic” she is and show off how “artistic” she is, doesn’t she? I loved her first two albums, because she seemed to be having fun and making enjoyable music. Now she’s more concerned with everyone loving her music and her persona (and no dissension allowed!) than with actually making good music. All the joy and fun is gone from her “art”.
Born This Way is only the gay anthem of all time in her and her followers’ minds. And only because she endlessly promoted it as such.
I’m not particularly fan of Gags but to say she is done… Slightly psychic are we? Just like any artist (good or bad) somedays you have great hits somedays you have less greater hits. It happens.
I have no songs or albums from Gaga. She never ‘rocked my boat’ musically but I could say the same about so many other artists out there…
The fact that she can still move millions is a credit to her capability of pastiche…
Kudos to anyone who likes her and listens to her, just like previous albums I will skip this one without being offensive or derogative, I will just not care.
