Laying The Smackdown On NOM

There’s a reason we omitted the National Organization for Marriage from our Top Ten Ridiculous Grudges list. For starters, any grudge we have against them would be entirely justified, given their general stance towards our community and equal rights. And on top of that? They really don’t deserve any more of our attention.

However, we have to give major props to Zinnia Jones for this “apology” video. Exactly what is Zinnia “apologizing” for? Well, in this particular instance, it’s about the woman who claimed she was “bullied” by gay protesters who blocked her view of NOM’s rally. Poor thing!

  1. The response was Well Done, but I doubt the women understood it, it was to intellectual.

Wonder how she might have felt if the State she lives in said she couldn’t marry her black husband, as it might cause to much stress on her children to be from a mixed marriage, she might have been standing then, rather then sitting.

  2. I’m a gay guy who isn’t interested in or concerned with gay marriage being legalized. Marriage is a social institution with all sorts of limits, and if a large portion of a society at some point in time decides that they want a certain limit on sexual orientation, you really don’t have much philosophical or moral ground to disagree with them. Just call it what it is–a personal preference for a certain type of society. Too many gays have made this into a quasi-spiritual crusade, trying to equate it with the black civil rights movement. Sloppy sloppy

  3. OMG – that was the “BESTEST” response anyone could have asked for. That girl’s my new BFF!!

  4. i don’t really have anything to say about the posting itself; rather, i just feel the need to inform the webmaster that some blogs are not showing up in the main pages — including this one, the latest “Bi The Way,” and the one for the Homosexual Menace.

  5. Hahaha, Ms. Bitch has been watching way too much Daria. But I love her none the less. she reminds me of this smart girl I was friends with in high school who could always come up with the best comebacks when people said something mean or snarky.

  6. OMG !! Just imagine if all rallies where as violent as this one with all those PEACEFUL people holding up those EQUALITY signs …

Imagine if Dr.King along with the other civil rights marcher had a face the same type VIOLENCE that this poor woman had 2 deal with I trembling at the thought of it . I just say thank GOD 4 the bigots , dogs ,the fire hydrant & fire hoses , the beatings, the Church bombings , countless of MURDERS . The list goes ON & ON !! I want 2 LOL but really my comments R nothing 2 laugh at and 2 the folks with the EQUALITY signs BEST OF LUCK AND GOD BLESS !!!

  7. @mmeh:
I don’t think you understand what this struggle is all about. At least I for one, just want the right and freedom to be able to share my life with someone. The lack of legal recognition means that I cannot be with my husband who could be an immigrant without appropriate visa, for example. My partner and I cant give each other the flexibility to be out of work / self employed because we cannot share health benefits. In some states, we cant have kids either. Finally, I cant visit him when hes sick (though I know thats changing now), nor can we inherit each others assets, without having the most complicated asset transfer process on earth (which god forbid we don’t complete before being run over by a truck).

Its not really about marriage, who cares – thats a religious concept and I dont even believe in it. But I want the freedom to live my life with someone I love with the same rights as everyone else.

  8. if i did have to make a comment about the actual subject at hand, it’s this:

“it’s the principle that matters — just having The Opportunity available.”

may The Supreme Being forbid this, but, i am highly doubtful i will find someone to marry before i die.
in spite of that, if i want to extend Spousal Compensatory Benefits (© 2010 Saint Patience) to my mate, i don’t want him to jump through hurdles to have at it.

I’ve lost my patience with you fucking imbeciles who state their gayness and then say who cares if gay marriage isn’t legal.

Instead of wagging my finger at you and trying to educate you, I’ll just simple say this: please shut the fuck up, you ignorant piece of fail.
