We covered the straight allies last week, but where the fuck are all the queer rappers at? It turns out they’re not as difficult to find as you’d imagine—see our previous post on DeShawn Timothy‘s excellent track “55” and our interview with sexy bear rapper Big Dipper—though they’re still not all getting the attention and respect they deserve (because gay blogs are too busy writing about whack motherfuckers like Cazwell).
I was thrilled to see openly gay producer and rapper LE1F getting hyped on NBC New York, Pitchfork, VIBE, Prefix and Paper. I was less thrilled to see headlines like “This Is What Happens When Rappers Start Admitting Their Gay?” and “See what Frank Ocean started?”, but I guess all publicity’s good publicity, no?
Watch the ah-mazing new video for “Wut”, and be sure to grab a free download of LE1F’s Dark York mixtape when you’re done.
