LOGO is almost becoming a channel I could watch, you know? I mean, there's no denying that RuPaul's Drag Race is television's best guilty pleasure in ages. I'm often tempted to resolve conflicts with a "lip-synch for your life" competition. Don't fuck it up!
Well, now LOGO has swagger-jacked VH1's Best Week Ever and put their own homo spin on it. On their new web-series Gayest Week Ever, comedians and every-day queers provide commentary on the week's happenings. It usually has a lot to do with reality television, with this week's episode including The Millionaire Matchmaker and So You Think You Can Dance.
The series has some potential, but some of the pundits are occasionally trying too hard to be funny or "gay it up". Evidence of such? The not-too-funny extended awkwardness of Jeff Hiller's bathhouse joke around 1:17.
Luckily, Hiller is countered by self-proclaimed "blacktress" Naomi, whose deadpan delivery and expressions made my day. I literally laughed out loud when I heard her line about Patti from Millionaire Matchmaker–"But seriously, it is great to see white people coming together. I think after all this time there's been so much tension and Patti's saying, 'We are one, Caucasia.'"
They're just getting started, so hopefully the clips will get better and funnier over time. I look forward to watching and seeing that progress.
