There's no salamander on Earth that looks more like a Muppet, and if precautions aren't taken soon, the axolotl may be extinct within years. It is found only in a series of lakes outside Mexico City, and the axolotl's survival faces several threats. First, increasing population has led to the pollution of its habitat. Second, there has been a surge in demand for axolotls in the aquarium business, and finally, they are considered a culinary treat in Mexico.
For the sake of the axolotl, I think I'll just stick to frogs' legs.
