The soap opera is a declining art form. There’s really only going to be three left on network television in 2012, and that’s a tragedy. Because it means The Soap Hunk is going to be gone soon! The Soap Hunk is the impossibly good-looking guy who is often shirtless, dumb and being lied to about whose baby he fathered. But he could be a prisoner in a Russian gulag, suffering amnesia in a snowbound cabin, or struck down by his jealous ex’s sports car and he’ll ALWAYS look hot. Spray-tanned, pearly-whites flashing, and we mentioned they don’t wear shirts that much, right?
Eric Martsolf is the quinntessential soap hunk. The handsome actor and his broad chest wow the housewives (there’s a few left out there) on Days Of Our Lives on NBC. He was also on Passions, which was another NBC soap about witches, demonic dwarves, and zombies! It takes a real actor to keep a straight face through that.
Both of the ficitional soap towns that Eric has acted in seemingly have a clothing shortage, so he has to go topless all the time. That’s a good shortage.

You guys are so lucky in the USA, here in Spain we’re treated to south american imported soaps, with guy’s who have shiny black hair false moustaches and badly fittihng wigs!!! Occasionaly a very hot hunk either shirt open or shirtless will show up but he usually ends up dead!!!!!!!!!!
“Lovely to look at…” but painful to watch as an actor. It can be hard to stay focused on the body when such drivel is coming out of the mouth.
That’s what they invented the mute button for. Then you get to make up your own fun dialogue! Like the scene where he tells his wife/gf that he’s leaving her for me because I was able to satisfy him in a way she never could. Or, you know, something…
There were rumblings that ABC was going to can GH after they signed up Katie Couric to do a news/talk show, since that 3pm time slot that GH has would be a prime place for such a show. I haven’t heard any other rumors since then, but maybe J. Harvey has.
