Ah, it’s that time of year when the plebes (freshmen) at the Annapolis Naval Academy in Maryland celebrate the end of their plebe-dom by climbing up a big greasy pole. It’s the Herndon Monument Climb, and it first started being recorded in 1959. The well-built young men (and sorry, female cadets as well) lose their tops and boost each other up the pole covered in Crisco. I know, it sounds like fisting foreplay. But it’s not! It’s very wholesome. And it will REALLY make you appreciate how hot a muscled back is. Damn. Congrats, plebes-no-more!
