Marina And The Diamonds: “Primadonna”

Alright, sluts! I’ve been trying to resist how much I like Marina and the Diamonds‘ “Primadonna” for over a week now, but now I have to fess up and embrace my love for this intentionally vapid lady-anthem. It’s catchy as fuck, laced with the same Dr. Luke magic that made Ke$ha‘s “Tik Tok” and Katy Perry‘s “California Gurls” such huge hits.

While I’ll admit I miss the same Marina that brought us “Mowgli’s Road” and “I Am Not A Robot”, this whole fame-obsessed “Electra Heart” character she’s created is intriguing in some respects. It has echoes of Lady Gaga‘s Fame, with a dash of old Hollywood glamour. I guess I’m cool with that? Maybe.

  1. I’m BEYOND excited that you’ve posted this song Dewitt! Marina is back and giving us all sorts of Top 40 realness! I’ve spent the past week shamelessly jamming to this song much to the dismay of my boyfriend, but I really don’t know why it’s such a big deal though. LOL

  2. Damn….bitch got some pipes. She sounds like she’d make an excellent opera singer.
