Successfully covering Michael Jackson (or Paul McCartney, for that matter) is not an easy feat. The original source material is held with so much reverence that you might as well not even try to make it better. However, that didn’t stop Mark Hamilton of Woodpigeon from trying.
His “retelling” of McCartney and Jackson’s famous duet “Say Say Say” is a refined, acoustic take on the pop music classic, featuring guest vocals by Louis Hull of Louise and The Pins. The song was released as a free download this past Tuesday, one day before what would have been Jackson’s 54th birthday. Take a listen to this one! It’s a refreshing change of pace from what you usually hear on Manhunt Daily.
And while we’re on the topic of beautiful cover songs, you should also be aware that insanely talented musician Meshell Ndegeocello released a free download of “To Be Young, Gifted and Black” (originally sung by even more insanely talented vocalist Nina Simone). Grab that here.
Oh, and don’t forget Aiden James‘ cover of Whitney Houston‘s “I Wanna Dance With Somebody (Who Loves Me)”! That was pretty great too.

I really like this version. I just wish it had some volume control on link.

Your definition of ‘excellent’ needs some reviewing… Poorly cover, nothing new, and just some harmony.
If you want a GOOD cover of this song try KESANG MARSTRAND’s cover.
i like the picture up there!
and as i have nothing to compare it to, i’ll say this cover gets a “pass,” as it doesn’t sound offensive to me.
