Must Watch: Finally… A Great Video About Marriage Equality

After watching this video about marriage equality, that void in my chest where my heart should be filled with warmth and joy. Really, the video is that touching. It makes me want to go out and get married… the only problem is, I have no one to marry. Oh well, enough about me, back to the video. In the words of Simon Cowell, "song choice is critical" and "Finally" sung by Adam Joseph is a perfect song for the video. By the way, the flower girl is fierce! Every wedding should have one… Ok, maybe not.

  1. If you want a bland relationship that looks like an advertisement for a gay resort or hiv medication, this video really works.

  2. i’ll second kevin, cliche knows no bounds.
plus the hilarity of one waking up while the other’s already putting the tie on…that’s a divorce in the making, right there.

  3. Yeah, it is kind of schmaltzy, isn’t it? Interesting take on the old disco song, though.
As an aside, you’d have thought the couple would have more friends and/or family there for the occasion. What’s up with that?

  4. You two just sound like a bunch of bitter queens… sorry…
This version of one of my all time favorite songs is touching and heartwarming. As someone that has been in a relationship with the same person for going on 11 years, knowing the little things makes the relationship works. Looking pass each others flaws, understanding each others feelings… these things that most queens can’t get pass is a wonderful basis for a lasting and meaningful relationship.

  5. DC_TIGGeR….you sound incredibly sappy with your statement…I for one am no where close to being bitter…It was a horrible version of the song and a sappy video to go along with it…This is why marriage will take forever to get passed in congress and why the rest of America will be slow to get on board with it…(see the last election results)…and how do you know the other posters haven’t been in relationship of at least 11 years or longer….We have a right to our opinions and if we think the video is sappy, schmaltzy or anything else its our opinions.

  6. plus: getting equal legal rights has nothing to do with emulating heterosexual stereotypes, which is what this kind of representation does

  7. What is more touching then a lonely wedding at city hall with a drag queen?…
This video and song could have used some work.
“in my heart I feel like I’m that special kind of… girl?”

  8. Agree with the bitter queens comment. It’s a realistic portrayal of a real relationship, boring relationship? would you rather go-go boys and a disco ball? Yea, that’s the way to have a long lasting marriage.

  9. Bwahahaha, the two guys were good looking, but way too many cliche’s and did he seriously have to simultaneously kill 2 songs at once?

  10. Ok guys, I was married for 32yrs. I am a widow. I have loved men since I can remember. I know what it is like to be married. Yes, I know we all have our opinions. But don’t you think that those who want to get married should be able? How many times have I seen profiles that say LTR oriented? Lots of them. What is the difference between an LTR relationship or marriage? A piece of paper!!!Personally I don’t see any difference between the two. I don’t have a problem with guys staying single but don’t condem those that don’t. I thought this was a free country…equal rights and all!!!! I have been on both sides of the yard and from what I see there is more arguing over what a gay person should do and think by gays then straight people. So guys leave them that want to be married…be married and don’t tell them they shouldn’t.

  11. it’s not about go-go boys and disco balls….this video sucks….i also have no problem with marriage, but it’s videos like this that will only set gay marriage back not move it forward…it’s sappy schmaltzy and drivel…and the version of the song is horrible…and yeas i cringed when he called himself a girl.

  12. Love the video. It may be schmaltzy, but it’s a good schmaltzy – perfect for this sort of thing. Andy, I will marry you! (You know, after dating, being together for a few years, meeting each others parents, etc.)
When I was a kid my biggest desire was to get married and have children one day. (Well, that, and climb mountains.) When I was coming to terms with my sexuality this was a huge issue: should I stay in the closet, get married, and have kids one day – ignoring a huge part of who I really am – or should I come out and never marry or have children? Fortunately I didn’t have to make this decision, because states began to legalize gay marriage. Now I’m hopeful that I’ll have the opportunity to marry one day – to have your typical nuclear family, but with two dads, 2.5 children and maybe a dog or two.
Marriage may just be a piece of paper, but what it symbolizes to me, personally, is full acceptance of myself and my sexuality. And no matter what the naysayers on either side may think, that is worth its weight in gold.

  13. Bravo Adam!!!!!!!!!!!! This is what I was saying. Good Luck Adam!! I hope you get your husband someday.

  14. Umm the video is ok, cute and all. The song is horrible, two songs ruined.
Everyone needs to get over it. And there is no way in hell this is setting marriage back. Us all being whores is.
And some people here should look up the marriage we have. Even the states where we can married we still don’t get any rights.

  15. Randal, that’s what right wing nut jobs want everyone to believe is that we’re all whores…I for one am not one. Marriage equality will take time and will not happen over night.

  16. U know Adam it seems 2 me that all of these bitter old Bitches r missing the very point the video was trying 2 make that if we were living n a perfect world than who would care about 2 guys sitting on a bus holding hands who would care about 2 guys & a drag queen embracing as they climbed the rose peddle laden steps of city hall . Adam I 2 hope u will find the love of your life and maybe buy that time we will be living n a perfect world ……..

  18. “What is the difference between an LTR relationship or marriage? A piece of paper!!!”
you’re looking at it from the wrong angle. it’s not only about a piece of paper to show that you love someone. it’s the rights that come with that piece of paper that gay couples have been denied for years. same kind of rights that women were denied for years, and african americans, etc

  19. BLACKJACK us bitter old bitches, as you call us are saying the video is a poor example of what a gay wedding day/marraige should be… Marriage aint some sappy, syrupy fairy tale…I’m sure Adam may get his wedding day even if he has to move to Eurore or South America to get it…I for one wouldn’t want a drag queen as a flower girl at my wedding..nothing against drag queens it could have easily been a sister or female friend….It’s still a dumb ass video.

  20. …and it is just typical of those who qualify this as a ‘nice’ representation of anything/anyone, to go on to call those who dislike it old/bitchy/queeny, etc.
gay or not, cultural conservatism, like the one demonstrated in the film, is just a step away from fascism: we should all look the same,do the same, have the same, etc.
and why gay men, who have by default seen the other side of social dogmas (and should therefore know better) would still want to ‘belong’ to that same structure is beyond me –
having a husband/wife/2.5children/dog has absolutely no value in itself, it only makes you ‘fit in’ with those who think that that is the only, the RIGHT way to live.

  21. Wow.. who knew one silly video could cause this much conversation? I think we all need to start respecting each other’s opinions. If someone believes this video represents a life they want to have someday (or have that 2.5 kids and a dog), who are we tell them they can’t have that?!
