Traditionally, hip-hop hasn’t been the most gay-friendly genre of music. It’s cool that big-name artists like Kanye West and Nicki Minaj have come out against homophobia in the industry, but it’s not like the usual suspects (we see you, Mr. Mathers) are going to drop “faggot” from their lyric sheets. Here’s a remedy to all that bullshit. Rainbow Noise Entertainment has released “Imma Homo,” an unabashedly gay (and seriously aggressive) shout-out to “reppin’ for my faggot family.” Reclaim those words, kids, and make your elders proud.
Note: This song features some VERY harsh language and describes some NSFW situations. So, if you are sensitive to that, you might want to give it a pass and perhaps listen to some Young MC.

Ok, I am about halfway through this and I have to stop. I have no words to express my hatred for this.
I love hip hop but this is a mess.
If these creeps are speaking for gay people…they can sure as hell leave me out. What a fucking mess.
how saw that the best the gay youth can come up with is tons of sexual comments. throwing words like faggot and pussy around. this represents gay people. i dont think so. mediocre at best.
I find no redeeming qualities about it, it does not need to be made into a positive example of gays. If this as you put it “reppin for my faggot family” I would rather be an orphan ! This leaves a negative impression, not a positive one.
im kinda scared of half these people in the video
this is a HOT MESS
not the best…i think i’d rather listen to rebecca blacks “friday”
god how i hope no one thinks they represent the community — absolutely no redeeming characteristic to this crap
im more afraid of the girls in this video than the boys lol
OK this is freedom of there expression. they don’t represent gays as a Whole. Neither does lady Gaga. Its their way of speaking out and for anyone else to down them for it is no better than str8 people doing same thing. if u don’t like what they are doing or saying move on. sick of all u negative fags out here bitching. at least they are doing something…..
Wow, apparently there are a some haters out here! Endivisual came to our Pride Parade this past week and dropped some words of wisdom, the chick is smart and genuine AND she will be attending Penn State in the fall. Betcha didn’t know that! These is some REAL niggas spittin some REAL talk! If straight artists can flaunt their sexuality in songs, why can’t we? This song is about PRIDE! If you could take the dowel rods outta asses for a second, “Oooo they said dirty words!!!” get over it! They are expressing who they are and I am PROUD of them for confronting the hip-hop and rap world head on! Do ya’ll realize how bold that is to challenge such a homophobic community?! Niggas like Rainbow Noise and DeadLee are changing the face of hip-hop. I have nothing but respect and admiration for Rainbow Noise. We need to realize that not everyone who wants to can stand up and say “I’m a homo and fuck you if you don’t like it!” In their own way, they are showing people how to be proud of who they are with no apologies and that is sentiment we all should share. You may not like the package it’s wrapped in, but respect their bravery! And one more thing “IMMA HOMO, IMMA IMMA IMMA, IMMA HOMO!!!”
OK so this is not my cup of tea. It probably wasn’t made for someone in my age group. That said, my thought throughout the entire video, with the amount of teen suicides in the headlines lately, if it makes even just one kid think twice about killing themselves, it works for me.
considering the age gap I generally see on manhunt, I could’ve figured this wouldn’t go over well. The beat is catchy and hell the lyrics aren’t that bad either. I can say anyone from above that doesn’t like this, already dislikes rap. If you’ve heard anything hip hop/rap in the last 10 years this is about what sums it up.
I agree with tede, if it makes a young teen feel better about himself, then so be it. But if you’re gonna hate, then go hate on andy cohen, perez hilton, and a LONG list of other flamboyant gays that don’t give us any better name then we already have.
The ONLY thing they are doing is setting gay people back about 5 years. This is the trampiest piece of shit every put out. What trash.
I just wish they would choose other rappers to emulate besides this “homo thug” shit. It ain’t working. You can rap without every other word being a curse word. How small a scope of hip hop are these kids familiar with?
Complete and utter crap
I think what a lot of people are forgetting is that, while tolerance is a right that should be given to anyone, respect is earned. How many straight people, after watching this, are going to respect these kids and their “faggot family.” Respect is the biggest part of what it takes to be seen as equals and be treated kindly on a peer level. I mean, I’m gay, and frankly I’m embarrassed to be gay and be associated with the video in any way, shape, or form.
Also, another thing people need to keep in mind is that we (the gay community) are working up in the world. While that may not be “right” or fair, that’s just the way it is. And until we learn that we have to EARN the respect that we deserve, we’re not going anywhere in terms of equal rights. Shoving all this “Imma Homo” crap in people’s faces are just going to stigmatize the gay community as a whole, reinforce negative stereotypes, create new ones, and just make it that much harder to seem like we’re not all that different. Some of you might think, “What? Why the hell should I give up everything that I am just to make them happy?” Well, compromise is a two-way street. Give a little, take a little. All that jazz.
That and the video is just awful. The effects look like they were done by a 6 year old on acid, and since when does autotune and reverb equal talent. My eyes burn, and my ears ache. Makes me wish for Rebecca Black again…
I seen this last week somtime. No I don’t care for it but I don’t knock it either. I dosn’t represent me or my closest gay friend’s,but I when I see this video I see people I’ve meet over the year’s that didn’t judge me when I first came out(“07”).I see people that I party with I see a scene exist and SHOULD BE represented. It ain’t for me but some kid somewhere dosn’t feel alone anymore.
That’s brilliant, if a little crude
Boy, oh boy!
typical lesbians
all right.
i went ahead, took the plunge, and just gave this video a good listening-to.
and i shall declare, at this time, i completely embrace this collaboration.
and, more importantly, i reject [the [opinions}] of the members of my “community” who didn’t accept this video.
oh fuck yes, i am about to pull out my old race card.
kind of.
see, i can deduce with ease that the vast majority of this project’s denygrators are, in fact, white (and, of course, Male).
and not only that: but also White, and suburban or wish they could live in the suburbs, but cannot afford to do so.
here’s a news•flash: this “community” you-all envisioned actually does envelop more than just the middle- and upper-echelons of the socio•economic bracket.
there are also LGBQT in the inner city, who are probably even more frustrated than you-all are, for they have even fewer opportunities (culturally and logistically) to act upon their nature (without experiencing negative repercussion, at least half of the time).
**sorry LEO, but i have to dissent with you on this one — “homos” can (and will) come in all sorts, shapes, sizes.
including Thug variety.
what better way to prevent an average person from stepping to you about your sexual orientation, than by presenting with a fearsome front (whether artificial or genuine)?
not to imply, personally, that i agree or condone any actual Criminality.. ..but, as i’ve mentioned before, those “thugs” you saw in the video did nothing but emulate what immigrant whites themselves had perpetrated, starting waaay back in the late 19th and early 20th centuries.**
unfortunately, no, just because you don’t acknowledge or accept their existence, doesn’t mean your other brethren and sistern will magically disappear.
those queers who live in Rougher Environs need to see that there are, in fact, others like them, so such individuals may know that they really are not all alone.
(any alliances we can forge, in the fight against the against we non-heteronormatives {i used to say “non-heterosexuals,” until it hit me, just this moment, that Gender Perception plays a pretty prominent role in discrimination, and can affect even heterosexually-aligned individuals}, is a good alliance indeed.)
and.. ..don’t get me started on the “hidden in plain sight” misogyny that permeated a few of the feedback above me.
if those rappers were all shirtless, [attractive], young white and latino, preppy-seeming guys, i don’t think most of you would have found as many problems as you had, here.
damnit.
It’s not my cup of tea, but I enjoy this.
@Alex528; whose respect is more important–heteronormative society’s, or our own peers? Because I seriously doubt we’ll ever earn the former if we don’t have the latter. And part of that is being open and honest with who we are, as a community. This group is part of our community, and we need to embrace them, their experiences, and their work and work together as a cohesive unit.
So, BRAVO Rainbow Noise! Love the work, and keep it up!
I’m with Saint Impatience on this, with regard to how this video (and its critics) should be viewed. While its nothing that I would choose to listen to, its obviously not designed for middle-aged, middle class white guys like me. Its aimed at a far younger, far hipper audience, and sends an extremely positive message to gay young people, but most especially minority gay youth whose role models are otherwise practically non-existent.
hell yes, wrestlesex.
hell yes, indeed.
Harvey Milk is doing backflips in his grave and screaming **NNOOOOOOOOOOOOO**.
The gay rights movement just got bitchslapped; backwards in time, by about 10 years.
Too bad this song can never see the light of day….in the real world, where uplifting images of the entire LGBTTQQAAFF community are very much needed….due the lyrical content.
Great idea……sure. Did this effort hit the mark or miss the entire target?
It will not be getting played at any high school proms anytime soon.
Just because *family* releases a new song, writes a novel, or produces a film….does’t mean we all have to jump up and cheer…….even when the final product isn’t worth the resources used to create it.
The LGBTTQQAAFF community still has to work twice as hard and be twice as good to be viewed as less than equal in this world. This *work of art* doesn’t help.
this final product wasn’t worth the resources used to create it?
since you feel that way, then tell those people to make an “uplifting” song, suitable for General Audiences.
before you go trying to pigeon•hole them as if you are one of the prejudiced hetero-normatives that Rainbow Noise is attempting to fight against.
at any rate, i don’t think this video will gain that much exposure (as i believe you, yourself, implied), to justify your conjecture for the effect on the LGBQT’s collective Rights Movement..
..for those individuals who would attempt to hold it against us… …well, their minds were probably already made up anyway.
a more reasonable person (who might be on the fence) would know to take into consideration the broad spectrum of the types who comprise Us; i’d bet you, yourself, are
• White
• not quite liberal
• 38 – 50
• likely a Suburban Dweller
and, most importantly,
• not a person who has much empathy for the Plight of The Urbanite (or/and Persons of Colour).
n’on, mon chéri?
