One of my greatest fears while coming out was that my female friends would expect me to become some living embodiment of the Sassy Gay Friend. Frankly, I didn’t have the time or patience to trek out on shopping expeditions, snap my fingers in a “Z” formation and repeatedly tell someone they look fabulous. That’s not my style. That’s not my personality. That’s not who I am.
So you can probably figure out why I relate so much to the latest internet phenomenon, Disappointing Gay Best Friend. We all have that overly enthusiastic lady in our life who doesn’t want to talk about anything but Lady Gaga and RuPaul’s Drag Race, right?
