The first congressman elected while openly gay, Jared Polis, sat down with Stephen Colbert… and as usual hilarity ensued. They talked gay issues and even did a beer bong together. I think Stephen was trying to turn him straight.
Stephen Colbert always manages to bring the funny and this interview definitely made me chuckle. I have to go find my feathery cap now.

Oh yea Afersaka, cuz the “youth” are up at 11:30 and someone taking a drink is truly a terrible thing to show. Geez, I don’t even drink and I found that uptight.
Angelus, umm yeah most youth are up past 11:30 nowadays and doesn’t the show air during the day as well?
it’s okay to say “rap music is bringing about the downfall of society”, but two grown men openly drinking on camera is seen as okay?
kids don’t have parental guidance like they did in the past, so i think tv programmes should exercise a bit of caution in what they display
How exactly are you defining ‘youth’?
More importantly, no, they shouldn’t. It’s that exact sort of “Oh shit, we better protect the kiddies or else they’ll see reality for what it is” that makes guys like us so horrendously rare on TV and get a movie an automatic R rating.
Find me a 12 year old who doesn’t know that people drink and/or hasn’t seen someone drink and I’ll find you a very shocked man.
We don’t need to be protecting kids from this sort of thing. We need to stop pretending that kids are so pathetic that they can’t handle reality. It’s attitudes like that which turned kids shows from Loony Tunes and the Muppets to Teletubbies and the other patronizing BS.
