Apparently no one sent that memo to Perez Hilton. When I saw his post entitled "Gays Can Marry In California!!!!" on my RSS feed, my jaw dropped and I thought to myself, "I didn't even know The Supreme Court was even considering such a ruling today!" When I clicked the post, I got this–an error message.
Perez must have originally made the post and then realized the news item he was reading was from last year. I'd feel bad for him for reaching a four exclamation point level of excitement only to be let down, but I'm still pissed about this misleading item. I'm getting an image of a California couple jumping for joy together upon seeing this, only to find out that it's entirely false. It's pretty heartbreaking, no?
In case you're wondering about the reality of the situation, the California Supreme Court has until June 3rd to decide on the legality of Proposition 8
UPDATE: Perez wasn't the real fool here. The Los Angeles Times actually posted an item on Twitter, linking to a story from last year. Major FAIL on their part, but shouldn't the people who ran with the story do some fact-checking? Just sayin'!
