Playboy has a socially conscious side, who knew?! The Playboy Foundation gives out the Hugh M. Hefner First Amendment Awards every year to those who have spoken out and exercised their first amendment rights.
One winner this year caught my attention. 17-year-old Heather Gillman won a $10,000 award for speaking out for the rights of gay and gay-friendly students. Gillman won a lawsuit against her school board after they banned students from wearing anything that promoted equal rights for gay students.
She certainly deserves her award for the brave work she has done. To read about the other winners click here.
