The LA Times has published their list of 'Pop's Highest-Grossing Acts.' Madonna was on top, largely due to her tour, which brought in an average of $5.5 million per show!
An interesting tidbit is that only 3 of the top ten album sellers made the list, as touring continues to be the top money earner and where artists that appeal to older audiences like Madonna and AC/DC have an advantage.
Madonna pulled in $120 Million in 2008, followed by Celine Dion at $106.8 Million and Kenny Chesney at $95.7 Million. The rest of the list:
- Eagles ($90.7 million)
- AC/DC ($82 million)
- Coldplay ($81.6 million)
- Bon Jovi ($81.4 million)
- Bruce Springsteen & the E Street Band ($79 million)
- Jonas Brothers ($77.9 million)
- Rascal Flatts ($77.1 million)
A few alterations and this would read like a list out of 1984!
