Ummm…”nowadays”? There is always a meaning when someone chooses to get a tat. I’ve never known anyone (military, here) that did not have an explanation behind the tat(s) they chose. And “tattoo regret” is very much a reality, by the way. So, having an opinion to like them or not is fair game. What is the big deal? I really don’t like tattoos therefore I don’t have any and I chose a partner who doesn’t have them either. If you like tattoos then you are entitled to have as many as you like and I’m sure you’ll find numerous people who like them equally.
Those who adore tattoos are free to express their preference just as those amongst us who do NOT like tattoos have the right to voice that as well.
