It’s not a matter simply of douching.
There are health concerns.
There are a variety of illnesses that are communicated via fecal/oral transmission and there are few, if any, studies of anal douching that show that this practice can make kissing after rimming safer.
It is well known that some chronic (but not so lethal) infections, in addition to some more acute and potentially more serious infections, can be transmitted via this route. Just this last Memorial Day Weekend, someone I know was diagnosed with acute liver injury from hepatitis A. Hepatitis A can rarely cause liver failure and death.
Some infections have vaccines available (notably hep A), others don’t. All gay men should at least be vaccinated for the hepatitis A virus.
You never go ass to mouth without at least a detour somewhere first 🙂

scott b: you’re absolutely, it’s not simply a matter of douching when it comes to rimming (certainly it IS relevant when it comes to bottoming), but as far as transmissible infections, don’t forget that that also applies to sucking cock–and I doubt anyone would subscribe to NOT kissing after oral.

NO I don’t want to kiss some asshole – or one who’s had his tongue up everyone else’s either. Hepatitis is extremely contagious – There’s a freaking epidemic of it – largely credited to rimming. Rimming is more of a danger to the one doing the rimming than to the one being rimmed (who would already have the infection). So if they refused to kiss after infecting their partner that would be doubly insulting. I do agree that everyone should be vaccinated for Hepatitis A and B.
