This story about Rentboy touched my heart. Seriously, I could hear icicles cracking in two, falling and impaling your car windshield. You shouldn’t have parked there, honey. Superstorm Sandy caused devastation along the East Coast, particularly in the NYC and Jersey Shore areas. People have lost their homes and, in some horrible cases, their lives.
One of the businesses affected was male escort site (and Hustlaball sponsor) Rentboy. Some of your favorite porn stars work there! And the site being down meant guys couldn’t lease their dong for awhile. Which means they’re out $$$. And hookers need food, clothes, and shelter just like us non-hookers. And no, I don’t qualify as a hooker. I gave that handie at the Alley one time because I was out of cash and couldn’t find my ATM card and needed just ONE more drink. It doesn’t count.
Rentboy.com understands that escorts around the world lost business during last week’s service disruption. Our IT and sales department are working full time this week to add back the lost time. Monthly ads will automatically receive 8 days added to their purchased ad time. Travel ads will automatically receive store credit for the days their individual ads were down.
That’s super giving, and counts as an example of community and brotherhood. Rentboy says they ended up with “38 ft. of seawater in their data center.” Yikes.
Another story that we should pay attention to – the Ali Forney Center for homeless LGBT kids in NYC was almost completely destroyed by Sandy. They’re looking to rebuild. Go here for more info and for how you can help.

Also in the heartwarming news, the Victoria’s Secret team brought in generators and technicians to an armoury in New York, giving hundreds of soldiers back power and ammenities. They also filmed one of their shows there. Seems like a fair trade.
And I know it didn’t happen like this, but I can’t help but picture blondes in push-up bras, panties and heels installing generators as the men in uniform stand behind them wringing their hands.
Thanks for the report about what happened to the Ali Forney Center. I just sent them a bit of help. New York’s LGBT homeless kids have a rough enough time as it is–and now this has happened to what little they had going for them. I hope that others who can pitch in will do so.

Maybe another (highlighted) mention on MD would help with what remains to be done.
