Good news from California! Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has approved a bill that will recognize every May 22nd as Harvey Milk Day. Though it won't be a state holiday, the measure will encourage schools to conduct lessons "remembering the life of Harvey Milk, recognizing his accomplishments and familiarizing pupils with the contributions he made to [the] state."
Schwarzenegger also signed a bill that to recognize same-sex couples who are legally married in other states and give them all the rights of marriage in California. That's one more step in the right direction!
