Sean Penn, who won the Best Actor Oscar for his performance as Harvey Milk, is campaigning to have "Harvey Milk Day" declared as a state holiday in California. He's scheduled to appear at a press conference to lobby for Senate Bill 572. If passed, the bill would bring "a day of significance" state wide on Harvey Milk's birthday.
Last year actor turned governor Arnold Schwarzenegger vetoed the same bill and in his veto message, he said, "Milk should be honored in San Francisco but not statewide."
I wonder if Arnold Schwarzenegger would have a change of heart based on the success of the movie Milk, and how it was able to touch the heart of folks all over the country, not just in San Francisco.

I hope it’s passed!
