It always feels inappropriate when child stars grow up and become kind of sexy. The bespectacled lad in the picture above is the younger sibling of twin sisters Tia and Tamara Mowry. You may remember his three year stint on the ’90s sit-com Smart Guy, or his recurring role as Teddy on Full House.
Yup, it’s fucking Tahj Mowry. Even though he’s now twenty-five years old, we can’t say his name without thinking of that very special episode of Smart Guy where he tap-danced for BeyoncĂ© and LaTavia. It’s so strange that he’s all grown up and extremely cute. We’re perfectly aware that people on TV don’t remain young forever, but he was the fucking Smart Guy. This doesn’t feel right.
As if this all weren’t surreal enough, it turns out that Tahj is pursuing a career in music. He recorded a cover of Adele‘s “Rolling In The Deep” earlier this month, and while it’s nowhere near as good as the original… It’s much better than we, um, expected?

One of the best parts of that song is the way it moves along, and when you use that much rubato it kinda ruins it. Just saying. Other than that…he did turn out pretty cute 🙂

All things considered, I have heard far, far, FFAARR worse covers of this song in particular. For what it was, I enjoyed it–and would definitely be interested in hearing him singing songs more suited to his voice/style.
As for his looks…I didn’t expect it, either, but I saw his Twitter a while back and just couldn’t get over how cute/adorable/sexy I found him. The dimple, the abs, his speaking voice–definitely my type! I fluctuate on the facial hair, though; some times it seems to complement him and others, I want to bring the razor and shaving cream and do all kinds of things (that would, eventually…at some point…maybe, include giving him a shave where everyone could see it). Yes, Tahj has definitely grown up & filled out!
The song is only best sung by someone who has a soulful voice. John Legend’s cover of it is pretty good. If you’re not a soulful singer, then don’t try it!
