It’s normally a cliche that professional football players are big dumb jocks. You’ve got pros like Chris Kluwes and Brendon Ayanabadejo proving that there are progressive, intelligent jocks out there reppin’ for the LGBTs. Unfortunately, a few members of the Superbowl-bound San Francisco 49ers are ruining all that. Cornerback Chris Culliver told a radio interviewer that gays don’t belong in the NFL and wouldn’t be accepted. And then gave an absolutely witless “apology” to keep his money situation intact. And then dummies Ahmad Brooks and Isaac Sopoaga (linebacker and nose tackle for the 49ers) denied taking part in a “It Gets Better” video to the media. Uh, it’s on tape, fucknuts.
Let’s tackle Culliver first. Here’s what he told former Howard Stern sidekick Artie Lange in a locker room interview:
“I don’t do the gay guys man. I don’t do that. No, we don’t got no gay people on the team. They gotta get up out of here if they do. Can’t be with that sweet stuff. Nah, can’t be in the locker room man.”
You should be so lucky, pinhead. Laugh with me as you read this douche’s “apology.” Someone obviously didn’t run it past his spokesbitch first:
“The derogatory comments I made yesterday were a reflection of thoughts in my head, but they are not how I feel. It has taken me seeing them in print to realize that they are hurtful and ugly. Those discriminating feelings are truly not in my heart. Further, I apologize to those who I have hurt and offended, and I pledge to learn and grow from this experience.”
Thoughts and feelings are two different things, ok everyone? Bitch, you are DUMB. If that wasn’t enough, two of his teammates were filmed for the 49ers contribution to the “It Gets Better” campaign and then denied it this week? The fuck?
USA Today (via Queerty):
Although they are literally two of the four 49ers to appear in it, Brooks and Sopoaga initially denied having a part in the team’s “It Gets Better” video. “I didn’t make any video,” Brooks told USA Today. “This is America and if someone wants to be gay, they can be gay. It’s their right. But I didn’t make any video.”
USA Today then told Brooks that not only had they seen the video, but they had seen him in the video, Brooks responded, “I don’t remember that. I think if I made a video, I’d remember it.”
And that’s when the reporter opened up the cash register and produced a receipt; Brooks was shown the PSA on an iPhone.
“Oh, that,” he said. “It was an anti-bullying video, not a gay (rights) video.”
The USA Today reporter then pointed out that studies show the majority of bullying is based on a teen’s sexual identity, leading Brooks to contemplate for a second, or several.
“I know that. I know that,” Brooks said. “Okay, you’re right and I’m wrong. Are you from one of those New York newspapers?”
Sopoaga was also incredulous over his inclusion in the video, even as teammate Will Tukuafu tried to jog his memory.
“Yeah, you made that video, remember?” Tukuafu said.
“No,” Sopoaga said. “I never went. And now someone is using my name.”
Sopoaga was then shown the video, after which he asked, “What was that for?”
When told it was to stop anti-gay bullying, Sopoaga responded, “Yeah, OK.” Asked if he would like to comment on the video, the always loquacious Sopoaga said, “No.”
Dan Savage (creator of “It Gets Better”) has reportedly taken the 49ers vid out of rotation on the YouTube channel.
I’ve never read of a better example of herp derp. And these bitches make MILLIONS OF DOLLARS. Isn’t that appalling? Teachers, firemen, police officers, nannies, and really skilled hookers don’t make dick compared to these homophobic nimrods. Why don’t we make these easier on all of us and stop asking athletes for their opinions on anything that doesn’t require a jockstrap.
Irony of ironies: San Francisco is the gay capital of the US and these guys play for SF. Also anyone get a chuckle out of that apology? One day he’s comes off as an illiterate dumb jock, the next day someone got him a dictionary.
I’m sure the ‘apology’ was written by someone else.
I suppose it doesn’t get better, then?
You think? It went from ghetto-speak to textbook English in a nano second.
The really sad part is that young boys look up to these douches.
He needs to show some respect for his fellow human beings. He should be penalized for brining negative publicity to his team. His apology is a tranparent public relations response to his dumb ass comments. I am so proud of athletes like Brendan Ayanbadejo who are supporters of equality for all. I wish him, and the Ravens the best of luck tomorrow.
“4 HATERS + 3 ASSHOLES + A TEAM OF IDIOTS = ONE MIDDLE FINGER!” – JON B. All for the sake of “shits-n-giggles”, is it?! Idiots so heartless, full-of-fear, and clueless that you could shit marble! “Hey 49’ers; tote much coke or what?!” Homophobic losers!
Yeah, his use of DOUBLE-NEGATIVES was absolutely horrifying! 🙁
