Weekly Top Ten: Consider Whitney’s Comeback Successful

WeeklyTopTen-2

Last week, we announced the return of Whitney Houston's "Million Dollar Bill" to the Weekly Top Ten. You may recall when we prematurely debuted the addictive single at the number two spot. We thought you'd share our immediate love for the song, and apparently that wasn't the case. Now you've voted her to the top. We love to say we told you so…

Wave goodbye to Cascada, Little Boots, La Roux and VV Brown. All three overseas imports didn't make the cut this time around. Luckily, we have two new Euro jams making their debut. Perhaps they'll have better luck?

If you're a Weekly Top Ten virgin, we should probably deflower you tell you the rules. Each week you'll be presented with ten songs. You get to vote for up to three moving to the next week. From those results, we'll take the five jams with the highest percentages, a song we saved and four other contributions. These selections will make up the following week's charts.

If you don't see your favorite song on the list, leave a comment suggesting it for next week. We listen to nearly every song you recommend, and if we think it'll make a splash… you'll see it here next week!

To check out the charts and vote, follow the JUMP:

  1. Whitney Houston – Million Dollar Bill (LW – 7): When Whitney first hit the charts last month, she was one Madonna song away from coming in dead-last. Thanks to the debut of her new music video, some sexy boys in Asbury Park and a bevy of booty-poppers, her fortune's starting to turn around. This just might be fall's official gay anthem!
  2. Shakira – She Wolf (LW – 1): Shakira fans must have been asleep last week, because Whitney came along and took her spot! She still holds the record for number of weeks at the top, but it looks like she'll keep slipping if you don't send her a lifeline.
  3. Miley Cyrus – Party in the U.S.A. (LW – 3): Last week, Miley's digital sales made it look like she could end the Black Eyed Peas' never ending Billboard reign. Alas, she didn't have the airplay, and now she's fallen to the third Billboard slot. Coincidentally, she's also in third place here.
  4. Lady Gaga – Paparazzi (LW – 5): We sense that Gaga's VMA performance might give this song a boost. There won't be any complaints on our behalf, since we feel bad that Miss Piggy's probably planning a major beat-down.
  5. Lady Gaga – LoveGame (LW – 2): Your selected Song of Summer slips three spots this week. Could this be the end of the disco stick era? It's quite possible, but we really doubt it.
  6. Mariah Carey – I Want To Know What Love Is (LW – 10): I know, I know. We're surprised that we decided to save this song too, especially after Cascada had been so good to us. We were afraid that Mimi's lambs would eat us alive if we didn't give this another chance.
  7. Janet Jackson – Make Me (DEBUT): As the supposed lead single from an upcoming greatest hits collection, we can totally get behind this song. This might have something to do with it being buttloads more fun than Madonna's "Celebration". Yeah, I said it.
  8. Robbie Williams – Bodies (DEBUT): By popular demand, the Brit-pop hottie has entered these female-dominated charts. Can he make it out alive? We hope so, because we need more naked pictures of him.
  9. Alphabeat – The Spell (DEBUT): I've been obsessed with this song all week. If you vote for it, I will give you seventeen handjobs. Okay, I'm lying. But it's still a really good song!
  10. Kaci Battaglia – Crazy Possessive (DEBUT): We don't care if this song is old news. It's been blasting in our office all week.

  1. Thanks for saving Mariah’s latest anthem. She performed it live on Oprah and it was spectacular.
I have a feeling it’s going to be another huge multi-format smash for her.
(regardless of how long it survives amongst these bitchy queens!)
    😉

  2. She-wolf sucks, hardcore. And Million-Dollar Bill sounds straight off the Bodyguard soundtrack. i.e. her musical hasn’t evolved with the time. There’s a reason this song is/was getting shitty airplay. it’s stuck 15 years in the past!
