Weekly Top Ten: Kelly Rowland Comes Close

WeeklyTopTen-35

We love a good underdog story. Anytime an individual is able to overcome their obstacles and storm into the spotlight, we're probably going to be rooting for them. And with no disrespect to Lady Gaga, she needs to be taken down on our Weekly Top Ten charts. Who better to steal her spot than former Destiny's Child member Kelly Rowland?

If you answered Jennifer Lopez, David Guetta, Robin Thicke or Alexandra Burke, then you'll have to guess again. These four artists couldn't gain enough votes to stay in the competition, so don't be too sad as you wave goodbye to them. At least Robin looks good walking away. Real good.

If you're a Weekly Top Ten virgin, hold this guy's dick in your mouth while I explain the rules to you. Each week you'll be presented with ten songs. You get to vote for up to three that you'd like to see move on to the next week. From those results, we'll take the five tunes with the highest percentages, a song we save and four other contributions. These selections will make up the following week's charts.

Wishing there was a "none of the above" option? Well, quit your bitching and tell us what you want to see on the charts by leaving a suggestion in the comments. We listen to nearly every song you recommend, and if we think it'll have a chance… you might see it here next time around!

To check out the charts and vote, follow the JUMP:

  1. Lady Gaga f/ Beyonce – Telephone (LW – 1, W9): Well, this isn't very surprising. Lady Gaga and Beyonce have been holding on to the number one spot for eight weeks in a row. Though few have come close, none have been able to conquer this beast of pop greatness.
  2. Kelly Rowland – Commander (LW – 7, W2): We told y'all she was gonna bump like this, so you better listen when she commands you to dance. After stealing our hearts last summer with "When Love Takes Over", Kelendria and David Guetta team up for another dance hit.
  3. Christina Aguilera – Not Myself Tonight (LW – 2, W6): Ouch! Even with the hype of her new music video, Christina wasn't able to nab the number one spot. To add insult to injury, she actually wound up slipping to third place. Maybe she'd have better luck if she did act like herself tonight…
  4. Kelis – Acapella (LW – 4, W6): The self-proclaimed first girl to scream on a track shakes off her "Milkshake" image, splits with her husband, throws on a headdress and busts out one of the year's best dance tracks. Obviously, we're loving every minute of it.
  5. Scissor Sisters – Invisible Light (LW – 3, W4): Pink Floyd, Depeche Mode, Abba, The Beegees… whatever you consider the inspiration for this song, it doesn't change the fact that it's awesome. The spoken-word cameo from Sir Ian McKellen is just the icing on the cake.
  6. Robyn – Dancing On My Own (LW – 4, W3): The Swedish pop star ties the Scissor Sisters, allowing her to avoid the dangerous "saved" zone. We didn't think it was possible to love this sad dance track any more than we did when we first heard it, but it's been sounding even better with each day that passes.
  7. Sade – Babyfather (DEBUT): It may not pack the same punch as "Soldier of Love", but Sade's latest single has a breezy vibe that's perfect for the summer months. And let's not forget how fierce Ms. Adu is looking in the music video. Between her talent and good looks, this bitch almost turned me straight!
  8. Beyonce – Why Don't You Love Me? (DEBUT): Dust off those sixteen Grammys, gurl! Beyonce releases the ninth single from her Sasha Fierce album just in time to compete with her fellow Destiny's Child member's new single. Coincidence? We think not.
  9. Miley Cyrus – Can't Be Tamed (DEBUT): Love her or hate her, there's no denying this Disney pop star has made a statement with her new music video. We're just not exactly sure what that statement entails. Is she becoming a total slut? Did she come down with the bird flu? It's impossible to say.
  10. Chely Wright – Broken (DEBUT): Normally when someone comes out of the closet, we send them a toaster, their membership card and a gift basket. In this case, we're giving country star Chely Wright a place on our Weekly Top Ten. We hope this makes up for saying we've never heard of her…

  1. I voted for Gaga, Robyn and Christina this week. I thought of recommending the new Katy Perry track “California Girls”, but I am sure it will be here next week. So here are my suggestions this time around:
    – Gabriella Cilmi – Hearts don’t lie (Moto Blanco Radio Edit)
    – This is a long shot, but maybe “Bulletproof” by La Roux could make a comeback now that it has gone mainstream on American radio and it’s currently at #29 on the Billboard Hot 100. Just a thought.

  2. Voted: Kelly, Beyonce and Sade. Kelly has always been my favourite DC member; her style, her look, her voice, etc.
but that beyonce song is hot as well. a little something to keep the gay boys satisfied while she creates her next masterpiece
Sade is timeless and amazing. her video is bright and summery. hopefully it’ll be in heavy rotation on the cable networks as well…

  3. I’m with JPH, waiting for Katy’s new song to enter the chart and (potentially) hit #1!
