Whether you consider it gay sacrilege or poetic justice, former Destiny's Child member Kelly Rowland has overtaken Lady Gaga for the top spot on Manhunt Daily's Weekly Top Ten. We've been predicting (or blatantly pushing) this move for the past couple of weeks, and it's exciting that the day has finally come!
Of course, Ms. Kelendria shouldn't get too comfortable up there, because new competitors Kylie Minogue, Ke$ha and the Scissor Sisters could pose a serious threat. The unfortunate side-effect of their presence on the charts means we'll have to say a sad goodbye to Miley Cyrus, Beyonce, Kelis, Chris Young and Robin Thicke. These five artists are joined in the loser's circle by Wild Card rejects Drake, Sara Bareilles and Roll Deep.
If you're a Weekly Top Ten virgin, how about you suck my dick (for art's sake!) while I explain the rules to you. Each week you'll be presented with ten songs. You get to vote for up to three that you'd like to see move on to the next week. From those results, we'll take the five tunes with the highest percentages, a song we save and four other contributions. These selections will make up the following week's charts.
Wishing there was a "none of the above" option? Well, quit your bitching and tell us what you want to see on the charts by leaving a suggestion in the comments. We listen to nearly every song you recommend, and if we think it'll have a chance… you might see it here next time around!
– Dewitt
To check out the charts and vote, follow the JUMP:
- Kelly Rowland – Commander (LW – 2, W4): Who knew Kelly Rowland was such a dominant top? With all this "commanding" and whatnot, I'm starting to get a little hot and heavy. Clearly, a few of you feel the same way, because she's overcome her obstacles and taken first place. Work it out, Ms. Kelly!
- Lady Gaga f/ Beyonce – Telephone (LW – 1, W11): Oh, Gaga! It's not that we don't love you, but we can't help rooting for the underdog in this situation. You better push out the video for "Alejandro" as soon as possible. We're sure it'll shoot to number one in no time!
- Katy Perry f/ Snoop Dogg – California Gurls (LW – 7, W2): An addictive summer jam from the same woman whose "kissable" anthem made listening to the radio unbearable two summers ago. We hate that we love this so much, but there's no way you can resist that infectious beat.
- Christina Aquilera – Not Myself Tonight (LW – 3, W8): Despite all the attention she received for her latest music video, Christina keeps on slipping week after week. Is there any hope for this former mouseketeer? Or is this song doomed to be forgotten?
- Alicia Keys – Un-thinkable (I'm Ready) (LW – 8, W2): Even though it's on the slower side of the spectrum, this jam had enough punch to make it into the top five. We're sure it'll become even more of a hit when the dance mixes start flowing in. Have you heard the Abe Clement mix yet? Fabulous!
- Kylie Minogue – All The Lovers (DEBUT): Kitties go crazy for catnip. Gay men go crazy for Kylie Minogue. These are just the facts of life. While we'd normally reserve this space for a "saved" song, there were too many exciting new entries to justify saving Miley or Beyonce.
- Scissor Sisters – Fire With Fire (DEBUT): The super-gay rock ensemble had some luck on the charts with their album track "Invisible Light", and now they're back to compete with their first official single "Fire With Fire". Oh, did we mention that their lead singer posed half-naked recently?
- Allison Iraheta – Don't Waste The Pretty (WILD CARD): Allison trampled all of her competitors in this week's Wild Card round, but will that be enough to gain her a spot on our weekly countdown? Tune in next week to find out whether this former American Idol star made the cut.
- Florence + The Machine – Cosmic Love (DEBUT): We're pretty sure this one doesn't have a chance, though we'd love for you to prove us wrong. How can you deny the awesomeness of Florence Welch? I mean, have you heard her sing? She's fucking brilliant!
- Ke$ha – Your Love Is My Drug (DEBUT): Sorry, my general distaste for Ke$ha prevents me from ranking her any higher than "last place". Feel free to make me eat my own words by voting her to the number one spot. But you should be warned that there may be consequences. Like losing your own dignity.
TOUCH BY NATASHA BEDDINGFIELD!
Lol. Ke$ha is great. Admitting to liking anyone on this list is pretty embarrassing. Not liking Ke$ha does not make you look cool when this is the music you listen to.
check out Allison Iraheta’s song.. she is so underrated
I’m not sure it has anything to do with being cool, Randal. I don’t care for Kesha, yet I will proudly admit to loving lots of music that other people would hate or even laugh at. Dewitt just isn’t a fan, and neither am I.
Allison!
Yes,get Natasha Bedingfield’s “Touch” in the countdown.
I just wish Christina Aguilera would just go away. I love the Kylie, Florence, and Ke$ha songs on the list. “Not Myself Tonight” is simply not a good song.
Pixie Lott – Here We Go Again …This is so addictive.
