There's a new number one song on Manhunt Daily's Weekly Top Ten, and it's got nothing to do with being a "free bitch". Sade has left Lady Gaga in the dust and finally managed to nab the number one spot. Also, both Ke$ha and Shakira have made impressive debuts, one of which might upset our favorite pants-free pop star.
In other upsetting news, we're being forced to say goodbye to tracks by Pink, Selena Gomez, Vampire Weekend and Toni Braxton. Sad faces all around! Young Money, OK Go and Hunx & His Punx all tried to gain a spot in the Wild Card round, but none of them made the cut.
If you're a Weekly Top Ten virgin, strap on your kinky boots and get ready for me to explain the rules. Each week you'll be presented with ten songs. You get to vote for up to three that you'd like to see move on to the next week. From those results, we'll take the five tunes with the highest percentages, a song we saved and four other contributions. These selections will make up the following week's charts.
Wishing there was a "none of the above" option? Well, stop your bitching and tell us what you do want to see on the charts! Leave your suggestion in the comments section. We listen to nearly every song you recommend, and we think it'll have a chance… you might see it here next time around!
– Dewitt
To check out the charts and vote, follow the JUMP:
- Sade – Soldier of Love (LW – 2): We've been hoping this moment would come ever since Sade first debuted on the charts, but we didn't expect it to happen so late in the game! Even if this jam only spends one week at the top, we're still glad that it finally made it there.
- Ke$ha f/ 3OH!3 – Blah Blah Blah (LW – 7): Oy! It seems like just yesterday that I was complaining about Lady Gaga's omnipresence on the Weekly Top Ten. You all know that I eventually came around to her, but I don't think I'll ever accept Ke$ha into my heart. Will she hit number one and infuriate the crap out of me? Probably. But will she stand a chance once "Telephone" hits the charts? Probably not.
- Lady Gaga – Bad Romance (LW – 1): Looks like Gaga's reign is coming to an end! After a long run at the top, she was ousted to the number two spot by Pink, and now she's been knocked back to third place. Ouch. Will this "Bad Romance" finally come to an end?
- Alicia Keys – Try Sleeping With A Broken Heart (LW – 5): After teetering on the brink of extinction for a few weeks, Ms. Keys has jumped one step in the right direction. Had she gone the other way, she would have been completely knocked off the charts. It's a good thing she goes both ways…
- Shakira – Gypsy/Gitana (LW – 8): Although Shakira's album She Wolf hasn't been a huge hit in the US, she's been getting a whole lot of love from the Manhunt Daily community. Thanks to the music video's Rafael Nadal cameo and a stellar Spanish version, we're feeling this one even more than we did originally.
- Rihanna – Rude Boy (LW – 4): With the current momentum of this song, it's almost a given that it'll become the biggest hit from Rated R. It makes us even more pumped for Rihanna's next album, since it's been rumored to have a positive and upbeat vibe. Oh, and how can we forget Nathaniel's totally hot hip movements?
- Goldfrapp – Rocket (RETURN): To celebrate the premiere of this single's creepy music video, we're bringing "Rocket" back to the charts. I can't believe it took me this long to actually pay attention to the lyrics of this song and realize it's about exacting revenge! I'd beat myself up for being such an idiot, but I'm too preoccupied with obsessing over the phallic nature of the rocket in this video. Just look at that pinkish-purple head!
- Taio Cruz f/ Ludacris – Break Your Heart (RETURN): Believe it or not, this song has appeared on Manhunt Daily's Weekly Top Ten in the past! We featured it way before it was dominating the iTunes charts. I guess you could call us trendsetters, eh?
- Evanescence – Together Again (WILD CARD): OK Go deserved this spot for their amazing clip for "This Too Shall Pass", but they don't have shit on Amy Lee's vocals. Even though this ones a little slower than our usual selections, it may still have a chance!
- Pixie Lott – Gravity (DEBUT): Pixie Lott debuted to mixed reactions in the comments section. It may be harsh to say it, but most of you seemed pretty underwhelmed. We're doing this for our boy, JPH! Maybe she can pull an upset and wind up in the top five…
Not to complain – oh, who am I kidding, I LOVE to complain, LOL! I couldn’t even make it through OK Go’s video because the song wasn’t good.
Alicia & Evanescence <3
Would LOVE to see Cheryl Cole from the UK Girl Pop Group Girls Aloud. Love Fight for This Love (Moto Blanco Radio Edit) and her other single Parachute. Deserves a listen.
owen pallet – lewis takes action
I voted for Rihanna, Goldfrapp and my girl, Pixie Lott. Thanks Dewitt for giving “Gravity” a chance.
It might not be the greatest single of the year or the video doesn’t have half naked male dancers, but the song is amongst the best I heard this year so far. And to continue with my support for UK acts, here are my suggestions for the Wild Card section next week:
– Example: “Won’t go quietly”
– JLS: “One shot”
– Alexandra Burke: “The Silence”
I love Sade. Her album has been number 1 for three weeks on the Billboard charts and her album is close to platinum.
blah blah blah is the worst thng ever that’s been called ‘music’.. i mean, are you effin kiddin me?
