Weekly Top Ten: Still Born This Way

Another week, and Lady Gaga‘s still on top! “Born This Way” continues to dominate our Weekly Top Ten countdown, despite a sincere effort by Adele‘s fans to provide some worthy competition. How much longer can Gaga hold onto the throne?

Well, don’t look at us! We don’t know the answer to that question. Of course, we can tell you who got voted off this week’s charts. Wave goodbye to Clare Maguire, Kahi, James Blake and Chris Young! Their songs weren’t able to secure enough votes, so we had no choice but to send them packing…

So how does this all work? If you’re a Weekly Top Ten virgin, grab onto Marko Lebeau‘s hairy butt while I explain the rules to you. Each week you’ll be presented with ten songs. You get to vote for any and all that you’d like to see move on to the next week. From those results, we’ll take the five tunes with the highest percentages, a song we save and four other contributions. These selections will make up the following week’s charts.

Wishing there was a “none of the above” option? Well, quit your bitching and tell us what you want to see on the charts by leaving a suggestion in the comments. We listen to nearly every song you recommend, and if we think it’ll have a chance… you might see it here next time around!

– Dewitt

To check out the charts and cast your vote, follow the JUMP:

  1. Lady Gaga – Born This Way (LW – 1, W3): The video for “Born This Way” will be out next week, so we suspect it will be a while before this song budges from the top spot. Unless, of course, the video involves singing vaginas and something else that would otherwise horrify gay men. Even so, we’re pretty sure you’d still vote for Gaga…
  2. Adele – Rolling In The Deep (LW – 5, W12): Next week, we’ll be introducing Adele’s latest single “Someone Like You” to the countdown, after it rocketed to the top of the UK charts. Does that mean you should stop voting for “Rolling In The Deep”? Not at all! Let’s see if we can keep this jam in the mix for another three weeks. Then it’ll be eligible for retirement and march gay-ly forward into our hall of fame.
  3. Britney Spears – Hold It Against Me (LW – 3, W7): In her seventh week, Britney doesn’t move a single inch from third place. The video’s premiere didn’t seem to have any effect on your general opinion of this song. You either love it or hate it, and that’s the bottom line.
  4. Pink – Fuckin’ Perfect (LW – 2, W6): How quickly they fall! Pink had a good three-week run at first place, and then she got knocked into the runner-up slot by Gaga. Now, seemingly out of nowhere, she’s slipped down two more spots! What did she do to deserve this kind of treatment?
  5. Rihanna – S&M (LW – 4, W4): Loser City, Population: Rihanna? That might be the case if you don’t pull in more votes for her latest single. After moving down several slots on last week’s countdown, the Bajan princess continues her descent into the point of no return. Can you save her before it’s too late?
  6. Mumford & Sons – The Cave (LW – 7, W2): Mumford & Sons nearly pulled in a whopping one-hundred votes. However, they were still a long way from catching up to Rihanna. We have to admit that they did better than we had originally expected! But they’re gonna have to do a lot better than that to stay in the mix.
  7. Beth Ditto – I Wrote The Book (DEBUT): We’re well aware that Beth Ditto isn’t the biggest star among today’s new entries, but we had to give her some extra recognition by ranking her a little higher. This song could aptly be described as “fierce”, and we love the video’s blatantly obvious nods to Madonna.
  8. Jennifer Lopez – On The Floor (DEBUT): OMG, you guys! Jennifer Lopez is letting her fans choose between two almost indistinguishable endings to the video for “On The Floor”. One of them has her staring at a camera, while the other has people dancing on ceiling and walls. How will we ever make this decision before the March 3rd premiere on American Idol? ::rolls eyes::
  9. Radiohead – Lotus Flower (WILD CARD): Radiohead only won the Wild Card round with a measly twenty-three votes, so we have a feeling that they won’t last very long on the charts. Then again, stranger things have happened! We thought Rob Lowe was a sure bet on our latest Who Would You Rather poll, yet Adam Scott put up a pretty decent fight…
  10. Ke$ha – Blow (DEBUT): “So I grabbed the bear by the throat and I looked him right in the eyes, and I said, ‘Bear, you have till the count of zero to put some pants on and apologize to the president.’ And that’s how I was elected to the parliament of Uzbekistan.” You may have won us over with this line, Ms. Sebert! But you haven’t won us over with this song.

  1. I voted for “S&M” cause I love that song! I also voted for “Rolling in the Deep’… cause well, it’s Adele. : P

  2. I voted for everyone except Gaga and Beth Ditto. Let’s face it, Born this way is gonna be around for a long time so there’s no need to support Gaga because she wins this one hands down for at least the next 6 weeks.

I want to suggest for next week a very interesting singer from Denmark. Her name is Oh Land and her first single is doing the rounds in North America, it’s called “Sun of a Gun” and the album drops in March. Let’s give a chance to this former ballerina and see what she has to offer, although is not Gaga or Britney-ish.

  3. My votes this week went to Lady Gaga, Adele, Britney, Rihanna and Jennifer. With this line-up there would be a very hot time on the dancefloor! 🙂

  4. I voted for Adele once again. I’m glad her new song is finally coming next week. Votes also for Rihanna, Pink, J-Lo and Radiohead.

I want to second the suggestion for Oh Land’s single. Check the Jonathan Peters and the Yuksek Remixes. I also want to see here the new Hurts song “Sunday”.

  5. J. Lo, in a long overdue single that might actually bring her back to popularity, and she’s done it without losing her latin feel.

  6. Erickatoure “Behind the Waterfall” from the album “Work Ericka!” available on iTunes.

  7. Suggestions for next week:
    – Chris Brown feat. Benny Bennassi: Beautiful people
    – Oh Land: Sun of a Gun
    – Hurts: Sunday
    – Tinie Tempah feat. Ellie Goulding: Wonderman

My votes this week are for Britney, Rihanna, Adele, Mumford & Sons, Radiohead and J-Lo.

  8. Adele makes me want to cut my ears off. Not a fan of her. Brittany’s new single is not as good as it should be. Same with Gaga, but I do prefer her song to Britt’s so it got my vote. Lopez’s song is also disappointing.

  9. Gaga, Pink, Rihanna, Kesha

If Kesha continues to get over 9% I think you should save her. She gets a bad rap from you guys on here, but her songs are huge all over the world, so she must be doing something right!

  10. I voted for Mumford and Sons and Radiohead because they actually make music that is quality and is different.

  11. It’s a shame that people are voting for Adele just cuz they dont like Gaga. I think some people like the Adele song, but it shouldnt be getting these amounts of votes this far along.

Vote for who you like guys! Don’t vote to prevent someone from being #1

  12. I vote for adele because love her song
im also into gagas fever but im not crazy whit born this way
