Weekly Top Ten: The Songs of Christmas Past

Great minds think alike! We received a suggestion to combine the top songs from our Weekly Top Ten with the most popular entries in our extra special Wild Card round. Believe it or not, that was our plan all along! You just beat us to the punch…

Adele steals the top spot on this week’s countdown, putting an end to Pink‘s seven-week winning streak. But with five old favorites coming back to the competition, will Adele be able to keep her lead with “Rolling In The Deep”? Stay tuned in to find out!

As we make room for the new contestants, we’re forced to wave goodbye to the Glee Cast, Jason Aldean, Jessie J and the Scissor Sisters. They’re headed off the charts along with Weekly Top Ten retiree Rihanna, whose song “Only Girl (In The World)” spent fifteen weeks on our list!

So how does this all work? If you’re a Weekly Top Ten virgin, slip off Mike Rizzie‘s long johns while I explain the rules to you. Each week you’ll be presented with ten songs. You get to vote for up to three that you’d like to see move on to the next week. From those results, we’ll take the five tunes with the highest percentages, a song we save and four other contributions. These selections will make up the following week’s charts.

Wishing there was a “none of the above” option? Well, quit your bitching and tell us what you want to see on the charts by leaving a suggestion in the comments. We listen to nearly every song you recommend, and if we think it’ll have a chance… you might see it here next time around!

To check out the charts and cast your vote, follow the JUMP:

  1. Adele – Rolling In The Deep (LW – 5, W3): Wow, do we really have that much influence over you guys? We didn’t think you’d actually listen to our desperate pleas to vote for Adele. However, you proved us wrong by voting her into the number one position. It’s nice to see some true talent on top!
  2. Pink – Raise Your Glass (LW – 1, W13): Your loyalties tend to fluctuate, so we’re pretty impressed by Pink’s seven-week run at the number one spot. With two weeks before we retire “Raise Your Glass” from the countdown, she still has a couple of opportunities to steal it back.
  3. Katy Perry – Firework (LW – 2, W4): Though a Glee-tastic cover of her song “Teenage Dream” got knocked off the charts, Katy Perry hold strong in third place. Or, um, Katy Brand. Whatever we’re calling her these days! How much longer can these fireworks go on before their grand finale?
  4. Cher – You Haven’t Seen The Last of Me (LW – 3, W6): As a general rule, our Weekly Top Ten doesn’t cater to overly dramatic power ballads, but exceptions can be made when we’re dealing with a living legend. At sixty-four years old, this diva is still giving us goosebumps!
  5. Enrique Iglesias f/ Ludacris – Tonight (I’m Fuckin’ You) (LW – 7, W2): Um, have you seen the music video for this song yet? Enrique Iglesias + Orgies. That’s all you really need to know. And I don’t think I have to say anything else on this matter.
  6. Florence + The Machine – The Dog Days Are Over (DEBUT): Even though this song is technically two years old, we’re willing to support anything with Florence Welch’s name attached to it. She’s finally getting some attention in the US, thanks to a few stellar performances and a featured spot on Glee. We still can’t get over hearing this on the radio! It’s absolutely magical.
  7. Cee-Lo Green – Fuck You (RETURN): After the smash success of Gnarls Barkley’s “Crazy”, we were worried people might get tired of Cee-Lo’s voice. How did he decide to prove us wrong? By making a heartbreaking little ditty called “Fuck You”. You can’t do much better than that…
  8. Robyn – Indestructible (RETURN): Do you realize how many times we’ve considered moving to Sweden, just because their pop music is so fucking brilliant? The actual number is “zero”, because we’re too lazy to pack up our stuff and move. But OMG, you guys! Robyn makes some really good songs.
  9. Ke$ha – We R Who We R (RETURN): Straight out of the dumpster, Ke$ha has emerged to tell you that it’s okay to be yourself! If you “get” this song, then you get it. There’s not really much more to it!
  10. Taio Cruz f/ Kylie Minogue – Higher (RETURN): By a margin of nine votes, Taio Cruz and Kylie Minogue squeezed past Rihanna’s “What’s My Name?” for the final slot. We apologize to all the fans of Princess RiRi, but these bitches totally snatched her wig off.

  1. Why make Pink go away?

She is amazing – a true artist.

Her brand new single “Fucking Perfect” just debuted on the billboard hot 100 this week. Check it out.

  2. I am going with Cher, Taio & Kylie and Robyn. It’s good to end the year with a lot of pop music that is so diverse from trashy Ke$ha to brilliant Adele. Still, I think Rihanna will make a comeback in the new year with “What’s my name?”

  3. Agree with JDressler and make Katy Perry and Ke¢ha go away while we’re at it. How about some quality like Robyn and Cee-Lo get the appreciation they deserve.

  4. I voted for Firework because the hit singles released by Katy Perry Brand have been the most funtastic songs of the year!

Let’s have some “out with the old, and in with the new” so I decided to vote for Ke$ha and Taio Cruz.

  5. “Who is Adele?”

I can hear the masses chiming in unison. /You/ don’t have sway over us. The only thing you sway is rigged voting systems and your dick.

  6. “Who is Adele?”

I can hear the masses chiming in unison. /You/ don’t have sway over us. The only thing you sway is rigged voting systems and your dick.

  7. I love the taio and kylie song; I have always been a sucker for duets. Adele, oh how your voice makes me smile! Enrique, no should be allowed too be that hot and sing so good. It is just too much to take in all at once!!
