Weekly Top Ten: Victory For The Monsters

Well, it took you long enough! After weeks of taunting, Lady Gaga‘s brigade of little monsters have voted “Alejandro” to the Weekly Top Ten‘s number one spot. Can she beat Kylie Minogue and steal the title of 2010 Song of Summer? We’ll have to wait and see…

On a more solemn note, this week marks the exit of one of the competition’s fiercest competitors. After fourteen weeks of rocking the countdown, Kelly Rowland did not receive enough votes to stay in the mix, and she’ll head to the loser’s circle along with Enrique Iglesias, Sheryl Crow and Hurts.

So how does this all work? If you’re a Weekly Top Ten virgin, stuff your dick up James Marsden‘s butt while I explain the rules to you. Each week you’ll be presented with ten songs. You get to vote for up to three that you’d like to see move on to the next week. From those results, we’ll take the five tunes with the highest percentages, a song we save and four other contributions. These selections will make up the following week’s charts.

Wishing there was a “none of the above” option? Well, quit your bitching and tell us what you want to see on the charts by leaving a suggestion in the comments. We listen to nearly every song you recommend, and if we think it’ll have a chance… you might see it here next time around!

To check out the charts and vote, follow the JUMP:

  1. Lady Gaga – Alejandro (LW – 2, W10): Oddly enough, we just heard a rumor that Gaga will be releasing a fourth single from The Fame Monster. While we’re still not convinced that “Alejandro” is song of summer material, there’s an argument to be made for “Speechless”.
  2. Kylie Minogue – All The Lovers (LW – 1, W12): Kylie’s been knocked out of the top spot a few times, but she always seems to find her way right back up there. Can she reclaim her thrown? Or does this signal the inevitable decline of “All The Lovers”?
  3. Adam Lambert – If I Had You (LW – 4, W8): Not only is this Adam’s longest run on the countdown, but it’s also his highest placement ever! While he’s already proven that he’s more than just the runner-up of American Idol, this glamtastic singer hasn’t necessarily won all of your hearts. Maybe he just needs more time…
  4. Katy Perry – Teenage Dream (LW – 7, W2): With the combined powers of a frustratingly catchy chorus and sexy model Josh Kloss, it looks like Katy may have another number one hit on her hands. But does she have a number one hit on the Weekly Top Ten? Probably not.
  5. Christina Aguilera – You Lost Me (LW – 6, W3): In which we regret saving Christina Aguilera last week.
  6. Robyn – Hang With Me (LW – 8, W2): But we don’t regret saving Robyn! She needs some extra love, after Body Talk Pt. 2 leaked way before its intended release date. Plus, this is one of the best electro-pop jams we’ve heard all summer long.
  7. Freemasons f/ Wynter Gordon – Believer (DEBUT): We’re probably getting overambitious by ranking this song above all the other new entries, but we can’t help it! You couldn’t ask for a better gay summer anthem, and we’ve got a feeling that this one will be tearing up the clubs.
  8. Usher – DJ Got Us Fallin’ In Love (DEBUT): Sure, it’s formulaic and sounds like every other song on the radio. Even so, we’d be fools to say that this track doesn’t get our bodies bumping. It looks like Usher’s got another hit on his hands!
  9. Shontelle – Impossible (WILD CARD): It’s a bit slower than the usual entries on this list, but that’s nothing that a good dance mix couldn’t fix. Let’s see if Shontelle can achieve the “impossible” and get enough votes to storm into the top five.
  10. Ke$ha – Take It Off (DEBUT): You know my feelings on this one.

  1. Brilliant! Put your cell number out for all to see. Really thinking there, weren’t you! There is a button to the right that says “EMAIL US” with a huge envelope on it. I think that would have been the better choice.
    Go Usher and Christina.

  2. We need to get Kylie back on top. Her single is the song of the summer. Christina and Robyn also got my votes.

Suggestion for next week is Diana Vicker’s “The boy who murdered love”. It has a very hot model in it.

  3. It’s a crime that Commander and Kelly Rowland are gone – that song is fierce!

Thankfully I was able to give my votes to Adam Lambert, Katy Perry and Usher – all very fun, hot and awesome summer jams!

  4. Hah! I’ve been voting for Gaga, Kylie and Glambert for like the last 6 weeks and they’re now the top 3 😀
    woot woot!

  5. The new GaGa song is ‘Dance in the Dark’.
It’s being radio trialled here in Australia at the moment, just in case it wasn’t certain. =]

  6. I’ll continue voting for Kylie every week. No matter what song is charting. I like the Diana Vickers single and I’m loving Touch by Natasha Bedingfield. That song is great and has been ignored a lot by radio this summer.

  7. I’d love to see either the new Kylie single, the Diana Vickers song or Dance in the Dark by Gaga on the chart very soon. I voted for Robyn, Christina and of course, Ms. Minogue.

  8. You guys need to put Mike Posner back in the mix! You’ve put lots of crap in there that I don’t like, so do a Michigan guy a favor and put him back into the mix!

  9. Actually, I’m for just anyone to take Ms. Gaga off. For good. Except for Ms. Lambert. But please. Let the train wreck go! Please! For the love of Lu Lu!

  10. Compared to the originality of her other songs, Ga Ga really didn’t do much with Alejandro…well, except for rehashing Ace of Bass rifts. bah.
