Weekly Top Ten Wild Card: Grab Bag

There’s no way in hell that I’m going to put Chris Brown‘s “Yeah 3x” onto the Weekly Top Ten, so we’re going to need extra help on today’s Wild Card round. I’ve rounded up four songs–primarily based on your own suggestions–and now it’s up to you to decide which one deserves a chance on the countdown.

Today’s edition features music by Blake McGrath, La Roux, Carrie Underwood and Fefe Dobson. Unlike previous weeks, we’re not going to place these songs into any weird genre groupings. It’s a straight-up grab bag, from dance music to heartfelt country ballads. Get to clicking right away for your favorite selection, because you don’t have much time to vote!

Blake McGrath – Relax: When I first saw this recommendation on my Twitter feed, I wondered why anyone would ever recommend a solo song from the lead singer of Sugar Ray. Apparently, I don’t know the difference between Mark and Blake. As much as I’d like to pretend that I have better taste, this track is actually pretty hot. And the video is even hotter.

La Roux – In For The Kill: The US campaign for La Roux has really been throwing me off. This single was released over a year ago, but it’s just starting to hit American radio stations. Will Elly Jackson be able to repeat the success of “Bulletproof” on the US Billboard charts? It’s impossible to say.

Carrie Underwood – Mama’s Song: It’d be easy to shrug this off as a sappy tear-inducer for the breeders, but I can’t help myself from being drawn to Carrie Underwood. Even if her music is entirely manufactured, she still possesses the ability to make listeners believe in what she’s saying. I’m not gonna lie–I love this bitch.

Fefe Dobson – Ghost: Didn’t Fefe Dobson already have a chance on the charts? Yup, but she got trampled by teen pop sensation Selena Gomez. We thought we’d give this song one last opportunity to win you over, though we’re not sure it can compete with Blake McGrath’s half-naked body…

  1. Old or not La Roux is the best of the bunch. I’m surprised not to see The Ting Tings here. Guess Dewitt hated the song so much that didn’t deserve to compete here.

  2. Mama’s Song? Really? Did “Undo It” get to the chart last time cos that song sounds better to me than this one.

  3. I throw my vote in for Relax, so kinda grabs your attention (especially when your expecting a Powerman5000 cover), and the artist hasn’t been forced down my throat by radio stations yet, very refreshing change.

  4. Why wouldn’t you put Chris Brown on here? You posted the song, it just proves to me you put it on here in the first place just to stir people up. Not that it would’ve went to number 1 or anything but still…

  5. La Roux deserves it more than anyone else since they are working very hard to get a name in the US. I hope this song makes the crossover to Top 40 like “Bulletproof” did. Even if it took them almost a year.

  6. @Leo Dewitt didn’t post the song, Andy did. They are two different people ya know, lol! How about Taylor Swift’s- Mine? I’m really beginning to like that song!
