It’s Friday and it’s summer and quite frankly while I love the internet there are plenty other things I can think of doing right now. And not just getting my ass jackhammered by Adam Russo’s dick! (That too, though.) I was thinking more about vacation. You know, a relaxing getaway that may or may not be centered around a lot of scantily clad men.
In case you’re a last-minute planner, you’ve got options. If you want to head south, there’s always Island House Key West, which has been voted the best Gay Men’s Resort in the world. There’s also the Windamar Beach Resort in Fort Lauderdale; according to the website the management will bend over backwards to service you, and I’m pretty sure they mean that in the way that I think they mean that. If Florida sounds too hot and you’d rather not have to pack any clothing, maybe you should hook up with the Gay Naturists. They’re throwing a big gathering in the Poconos next month, but their website also lists nudist events happening from England to Indonesia. And if dry desert heat gets you off (someone somewhere must like that, right?) then maybe a visit to Vegas is in order. Temptation Sundays at the Luxor sound like they might be worth checking out…
My big vacation this summer is a road trip to visit straight friends in Detroit, so I’m not holding out hope of seeing too many horny gay dudes working on their tan lines (or lack thereof). But maybe you’ve got better plans than I do? Provincetown and Ogunquit are both within day trip distance for me, but I’m also tempted to try Fire Island for the first time. Especially since Dominic Ford is tempting me with this footage of Trenton Ducati and Duncan Black fucking on the beach.

Provincetown, definitely. With Fire Island, you need an “in” – a personal invite, etc., since so much of the social life is around private homes. Provincetown has fewer barriers to entry to the 99% of gays who don’t live in or whose social lives don’t center on Manhattan.
Love Key West- forget island house though. If you want to be in the action the bourbon street pub has rooms for rent right on duval st. For quiet off the beaten path look at B&B/houses off duval st. on the south side of the island. Still plenty close to the action.
REHOBOTH BEACH!!! – on the weekends gays from NJ, PA, DC, MD, and the few DE ones come out to play! on the south end of the board walk is ‘Poodle’ beach semi-nude beach and to the north most end by Cape Henlopen park there is a stretch of beach dedicated to bears… in between is a lot of families but its a fun place to go for summer memories and such…
The Windamar Resort is TERRIBLE. Was just there for my second time in May. Rundown, and if you are on the first floor you will feel like you’re sealed in a tomb– unless you WANT guys sitting right outside your window by the pool to be able to see every inch of your room, got to keep the curtains drawn at all times– and you still have to hear the idiotic conversations and cell phone calls.
Not enough parking, so chances are you will have to keep running outside and feeding a meter, even though they advertise free parking.
The crowd is NOT attractive, so unless you have a thing for fat old guys, the clothes optional thing loses its appeal pretty fast.
Overall, Ft Lauderdale is NOT what it used to be in terms of gay life and gay vacation. Up to a few years ago, even the hot boys from Miami would drive up to Ft Lauderdale because it was more fun.
Now it’s just a lot of old bear types living in the total suburbia of the “gay” Wilton Manors– just because you stick a leather bar and a mid-century modern furniture store on the street does NOT make it gay, sorry.
Used to LOVE Ft Lauderdale, had tons of fun at the Club Baths (awful now), the clubs (boring), the beach (SOOOOOOO straight, even in the “gay” sections… no plans to go back again, ever.
The Ultimate gay vacation spot is between Trenton Ducati’s butt cheeks.
