I was obsessed with Mean Girls when it first came out. Call it typical if you will, but I thought it was an extremely clever teen movie (mostly thanks to Tina Fey's writing). While praising the movie one day, a female friend told me that it couldn't even hold a torch compared to Heathers. And she was absolutely right. Teen angst, bitches and murder? That movie was fucking awesome.
Now word on the street is that Fox is developing a TV series based on the movie. I'm not entirely sure how I feel about this. It could turn out to be a guilty pleasure like Gossip Girl, but I have a feeling it could potentially suck as much as the new 90210. If the writing comes anywhere close to lines like "Grow up Heather, bulimia's so '87", I'll definitely be setting my DVR to record this. How about you?

This show better be good or else I’m going to pay them in puke.
Lick it up baby…lick-it-up!
You folks are also apparently missing the word that ANOTHER Spelling creation is being revamped. Namely, “Melrose Place” is being remade. And you KNOW that with a 25th anniversary remake of the movie “Fame” that somebody is going to try and revive the TV show given the “recycling” binge the networks are on.
I enjoyed the originals of all of the above. I tried the new 90210, not good. I am hoping they didn’t mess up with melrose and the movie fame, and now that I find out about Heathers, hope that has some great one liners. We’ll see…
I didn’t really like the movie, so doubt I’ll watch the series, if it materializes. Then again, these days I don’t watch much TV, except for local news, Jon Stewart, Steven Colbert, Rachel Maddow, and occasionally Keith Olberman.
Oh, and I also watch the Simpsons, Family Guy, South Park and Futurama while waiting for the others to come on.
The best part about Heathers were the murders. Don’t see how you could pull that off in a series. It was that they were unexpected–“OMG, it’s really going there.” But I might tune in for an episode.
