Simon Tam is gay? Yeah, that makes sense. Who, you say? Sean Maher is an actor who played a space doctor on critical (but cancelled) sci-fi hit Firefly. That was the show (and movie) that featured some ass shots of Nathan Fillion. He now plays a gay activist on NBC’s The Playboy Club. Maher came out about five seconds ago in Entertainment Weekly. Man, we’ve got some hot people playing for our team.
Maher, who began his career back in the late 90s as the lead in a cop show, has a longtime partner and two kids. DILF!

i like him a lot, but i find it very disingenuous to describe him as an “out and proud celebrity” — not coming out until your career is dead [or basically dead] is a far cry from being out and proud — i remember being absolutely disgusted when people said ricky martin was a gay role model – while he was famous, he actively lied and denied it; when no one cares about him, he comes out and uses the shock value to relaunch a pseudo-career ——- niel patrick harris is a gay role model – he is legitimately out and proud —– jim parsons at least has the decency not to lie about it or fake-date women, even if he isn’t out and public about it ——– maher is a handsome man, and i’m glad he is secure enough to be public now, and i’m very happy for him having a committed partner and raising a family – but it just isn’t fair to actual role models and true out and proud celebrities to lump him in with them
